DIY Immune Boosting Playdough
There are several recipes floating around out there — but I assure you, this one could not be easier. I actually much prefer the quality of this dough to actual playdough. It’s softer and much less crumbly. I know several recipes include food coloring, but I left ours colorless for two reasons — I wasn’t convinced food coloring wouldn’t stain our table and the kid’s hands, and also the kids wanted to pretend it was "mommy’s dough” so they insisted on it looking more authentic. However, I’m sure it would be even more fun w/ some added color. I’m just not that cool.
I found this recipe in my DIY essentials bible — Oil + Glass
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1 cup water
2 tsp cream of tarter
1/3 cup salt
1 tbsp vegetable oil
Optional: Essential oil for added scent. We added 10 drops of Thieves essential oil to make this immune boosting. But this step is totally optional and could easily be replaced with lemon, peppermint, lavender or omitted completely.
Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan and stir to combine over medium to low heat. Stir slowly for 2-3 minutes until the dough starts to form around the spoon. Remove from heat to add your oils and/or coloring. (Any remaining lumps work out by hand, no need to stir your life away.)
My kids loved playing with the dough when it was still a little warm. It can be easily stored in sealed Tupperware or a plastic bag.
