Books We Are Currently Loving

So many books on their tiny shelves, but somehow—aren’t we all really just reading the same mix every night? Don’t worry, we are actually making them smarter (see?) (while we slowly lose our minds rereading the books we have now memorized). #motherhood

I have a lovely arsenal of grandmas, great aunts and great grandmas that are either teachers or avid book readers. They keep my kids’ shelves full of the sweetest books.

Pro tip: If you are ever feeling overwhelmed by upcoming birthday and holiday gifts—I highly recommend simply asking for books. They can be loved longer than toys, stored much easier and you can always pass them along to friends, family and little libraries.

But, just like toys, books can blur together and get lost in the mix. Each of my kiddos have a tiny, reachable shelf in their rooms that I like to keep fresh with seasonal books, new books, or forgotten stories that have been hiding in their larger collections.

One of my favorite resources for new books is Instagram. Getting to an actual library and sifting through the shelves with kids can be HARD. I have can’t say enough good things about Rosemary of @librarymombooks. She is a school librarian turned SAHM and shares so many great books. She has suggested several of our now favorite reads.

A few of our favorites on current rotation: Miss Lina’s Ballerinas, Don’t Push the Button, Tallulah’s Tutu, Nope. Never. Not for me!, I Want to Be a Ballerina, The Gruffalo, Today I’ll be a Princess, Creepy Pair of Underwear, TeaRex, Thelma the Unicorn.
