Weekly Whats // 3

A weekly collection of my ‘whats’ — what I’m using, what I’m eating, what I’m loving, maybe even what I’m listening to. Who knows. But every week I’ll be sharing a quick bite of my ‘Weekly Whats’ with you.

What has gotten the most use. The white, wheeled caddy below has been burning some hardwood rubber this week. We keep two in our entry closet. One for backpacks, lunch boxes and shoes and one for crafts — more notably referred to as our “craft caddy”. It has been the family’s MVP during my son’s spring break and this lovely “social distancing” we’ve been practicing as of late. We load ours with notebooks, markers, crayons, paints, playdough, slime, a giant book of craft ideas and little activities we’ve collected over the years.

What I’m living in. These bad boys have been worn on the daily since last September. My husband scooped these up for me while we were on vacation in Los Cabos. They are a great size, sturdy (which is rare for aviators) and have a great gold detail. Plus they make me feel put together when I’m really just running around in my typical casual mom uniform.

What we built. We is a cute word you start using when you’re married. By “we” I mean my husband built this adorable garden bed for the kiddos. We started an herb and salsa garden over the weekend and this baby was so easy to assemble (said my husband), great quality and an amazing size (98”x26”x10”) for the price.

What I’m watching. Anyone else an OG youtube lover? I used to get hooked on people/family vlogs back before instastories were a thing. One OG YouTuber I have loved for years and recently rediscovered is Kristina Braly. Oddly enough, I actually followed her long before we both ended up in Houston. She’s a down to earth anesthesiologists with a love for tech. My daughter loves watching her sweet Harper and all of her videos are informative and entertaining. I love throwing one of her vlogs on when I’m getting ready in the morning.

What I’ve used for years. I’ve used this self tanning foam since college. It’s inexpensive and just the right amount of color. It goes on evenly, dries to a golden brown (never orange) and you can build on it throughout the week. I use it every other time I take a shower. I like to apply it with this mitt to avoid the dreaded dirty hand look. I always forget how much I rely on this product until I run out.

What I fell in love with. Since the last couple of ‘whats’ were oldies but goodies I have to share a shop I’ve been following since before my son was born. I just recently got an opportunity to work with Jill and I just can’t get over the simplicity and quality of her signs. Everything she creates is stunning (as is she) and so well done. I am incredibly picky with what I hang on the walls in my house. If it’s not a mirror or family photography, it’s likely a House of Boys & Beauty piece.

What I use in the kitchen. I cannot believe I survived as long as I have without a dutch oven. As much as I cook and bake — this sweet pot of love has rescued me time and time again. I bought her for soups last fall and I have been using her every week since. She is classic and functional and just my best friend in the kitchen.

What the kids are loving. I bought these water bottles on a whim because Cal’s previous water bottle cracked while he was at preschool and we needed a quick replacement. These were an unexpected success. They have a clear, locking flip lid to keep the straw away from all the things and they are super easy to clean. Bonus — the silicon on the base keeps them from sweating all over their carseat cupholders. I just love them and the kids do too.
