Super Simple 3 Ingredient No Knead Bread

The best part about this bread is that it requires 0 kneading and only 3 ingredients. The worst part…waiting. It’s nearly impossible to mess up this recipe. I found this bread approach through the New York Times (a favorite resource for classic, tried and true recipes).

Be sure to give yourself about 24 hours. If you want bread with Tuesday’s dinner…start her Monday after dinner.

Ingredients: (slightly modified from the original )

  • 3 cups all-purpose

  • ¼ teaspoon instant yeast

  • 2 teaspoons salt

Optional toppings for crust: EVOO, Trader Joes EBTB, chopped Rosemary, sea salt…

Recipe:

  • In one giant bowl toss in 3 cups of flour, 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast, 2 teaspoons of salt and 1 5/8 cups water.

  • Get your clean hands dirty and mix until blended. Dough will look and feel sticky.

  • Cover your dough bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit for 12 - 18 hours at room temperature. Dough is good to go when the it’s surface is covered with little bubbles.

  • Dust your counter with a little flour and dump out your dough. Dust with additional flour and fold it over on itself a couple of times.

  • Coat a tea towel with flour and cover for the final 2 hour rise. If she springs back after a poke, she is ready.

  • Set oven to 450 degrees and toss in your dutch oven as it heats. Take out hot dutch oven and turn dough over into the pot, seam side up. This does not have to be perfect.

  • Cover with lid and bake for 30 minutes. Lose the lid and bake another 15 to 20 minutes until loaf is brown and beautiful.

We enjoyed our bread with olive olive, grated parmesan and cracked black pepper the first night. We used it for sandwiches on day 2 and then used the rest for garlic bread on day 3. It’s a new family favorite we will be adding to our regular rotation.

And no, she’s obviously not low carb — but she’s a crowd pleaser and you look like Martha freaking Stewart.
